2009 Fun Day
Date: June 13, 2009
Location: Uxbridge Shooting Sports
The BTCO fun day had perfect weather - sun, a bit of cloud and cool enough to occasionally need a sweater. Perfect for excited, happy dogs doing a lot of running!
There were a lot of new faces this year with dogs and people enthusiastically trying out the intro to rats and inground earth, mini agility course, the racing and games. The day started with grooming and a lot of "fresh faces" had portraits done by Kinnear Photography following their makeovers.
It was a great group and a great day and we were very pleased that this new wave of Border Terrier owners are ready to learn more and help out where needed!
A huge "Thank you" to all the people who worked so hard to make this a successful event and a special thanks to Jen and Ed Holder and daughter Tanya, Pat and Phil Dimitrovski, Susan and Brian Rome, Karen Nesbitt and of course the Uxbridge Shooting Sports Club!
2008 Fun Day -
The BTCO had a great but HOT fun day on Sat. at the Uxbridge Shooting Sports Club. There was lot's of shade available and wading pools
were provided for cool downs for the dogs. The conformation match drew a good entry for Judge Peter Lavanthall who put up Pam Bruce's
"Chad" for BOB and Otterhead, Jen Holder's "Thyme" for BOS, Linda Hough's "Flare" for WB and BP, Jen's "Fern" was Best Veteran and Karen
Nesbitt had Best Altered with "Libby". We were then on to the races where despite the heat all the dogs were ready to run! Lunch, the AGM and then on to
the Earthdog site where all ages of Borders (and a few visiting JRT's and Dachsunds) got to meet the rats and try a paw at the inground
tunnels. Neil Kinnear and Lesley Chung, of Kinnear and Chung Photography, were set up for "photo portraits" so there was some quick
grooming going on before that perfect head study was done! The afternoon ended with Julie Calleja's "Moxie" winning the hot dog dunking
contest.
Special thanks go to all the workers who make it possible - Jen and Ed Holder (and children and grandchildren) who work to get the site
and equipment ready, the Dimitrovskies, the Romes, and all of our Board who work hard behind the scenes!
This was the first year for a special annual award, "The Golden Shovel". This is to be awarded to a club member who "digs in" and helps
the club and members where needed. The recipient this year was Ed Holder in recognition of all the work he does (and for MANY years)
preparing for the fun day and other events. Thank you Ed!
We hope to see everyone (and more) out for next years event!
Stay tuned for pictures when the Photo Gallery is ready.
